The Importance of Technology

As we all know, 21st century is the century of technology. Nowadays, new

technology is everywhere around us. The development of technology has a

significant affect toward the society. Several technologies that we usually use are

the internet, computer, and cellphone. Maybe some people think these do more

harm than good, but I believe that these new technologies make our life much

easier and better.

First, the development of computer changes our life radically. Just decades

ago, people still needed to do lots of complex calculation on hand because they

did not have a computer, and more obvious, they did not have the software for

calculation. As the result of that, people spent many hours on the equations that a

computer can solve in just less than a minute. Since the development of computer,

people are able to use some kinds of software to compute lots of complex

functions and mathematical calculation. Computer becomes the most helpful

equipment for the scientists and other people because they can use their time

more efficiently.

Besides, internet is another useful tool for us today, which is necessary for all

of us. Nowadays, there is a growing popularity of Internet surfing on college

campus. An increasing number of students, majoring either in science or

engineering or in liberal arts, spend many hours surfing the Internet with keen

interest everyday. The development of internet also brings a great impact toward

the society. Instead of going to library and searching all the books to figure out

some information we need, we can just simply use a mouse and click on the

website to do research. The internet leads us to a place where we can find

unlimited information and resources without spending a lot of time. It makes our

life much easier and better. According to report, United Nations

Telecommunications agency responsible for Hamad Tue, said in a statement, as of

2011, the global Internet users has exceeded 20 billion people. That is, in the

Information Age, it is difficult to imagine modern life without Internet.

The last technology is cellphone. Nowadays, many people have a cellphone.

But it just appears on the market for about 15 years. However, according to a

report, by the end of last year, the global mobile phone users have reached 5.9

billion, 84% of the 7.9 billion global population, in developing countries the ratio

was 79%. It is obvious that cellphone is very popular among all of us. There are a

lot of advantages that appealed us. Firstly, it is very convenience to the users

because we can talk to anyone we want with a phone as small as a wallet. Also, we

can communicate with others by making a phone call instead of sending letters. It

is very fast and useful way to communicate.

In conclusion, I believe the development of technology brings significant

impact to our life. It is very helpful to us and I believe technology will keep

improving in future.
