instead of driving a private car, is riding a bi cycle to

work. Meanwhile, a man walking by her is not heading fora

car parking but a bus stop. Their smiles seem to tell us

that takinggreen transportation is a better commuting

option for them.

Actually, in China advocating green transportation is

not anoption, but a must. Why? Reasons are simple: first of

all, airpollution in our country is severe and global

warming is real.

Therefore, transportation, being a major contributor to

greenhouse gas emissions, is the prime target for re-ducing

air pollution andobtaining sustainable environment. What s

more, if green transportation becomes mainstream, both our

country and its people will benefit a lot, including less

polluted envi-ronment, more sustainable economic

development, money saving and people better health. Last

but not least, traffic jams are now a major problem in most

cities. Driving private cars to travel in China is anything

less than a wise choice.

However,publicizing and popularizing green

transportation is no easy task and demands strategic

government and mass media should take leading

roles,enhancing public awareness and participation,control

of private vehicles and development of vehicles powered by

renewable energy sources like solar,wind,electricity

so doing,Chinese people may no longer take seeing the blue

sky as a luxury.
